Roland Garros



In the South-West of France, ending consonants are often pronounced in names. It is a reminiscence of the Occitan, the language that was spoken in this area before French.

For example:
Places and cities: Gers, Salat, Aulus, Calvados.
Family names: Calas, Oulivet, Garros.
