Patrick Swayze was a trained ballet dancer.
He had a career
as a dancer before he hurt his knees and started acting.
He started dancing as
a little boy in Houston, Texas. His mother was a dancer and dance teacher. In 1972 he
trained at the Harkness and Joffrey ballets. Even looking at the way he moves,
even though what he does is simplistic in Dirty Dancing, you can see he is a
trained dancer.
He was not over-rated but under-utilized.
John Travolta has little dance training but was a natural dancer. Had he had
training he would have been a better dancer. He was over rated.
